Classroom Observation

Classroom Observation

At OKC Heartland Montessori School, children work 3 hours straight in the morning. During the 3-hour period, besides giving lessons and assisting children, we observe them a lot. Through observation, we understand where each child is according to the work they choose, the concentration span they possess, and also the way they complete a work. More importantly, observation helps us to understand their needs so that we are able to prepare the environment to meet the need of each child and scaffold them to the next level.

Children are improving each day on some aspect in the classroom. We would like to share these amazing moments with you, because it is very hard to articulate what has happened in the classroom during the little time we meet each day while doing carpool. We invite a parent at a time to observe in the classroom during work time on some dates. Please visit our members page on the website to sign up at least 7 days before you would like to come. After signing up, we will send home observation procedures with your children. It will contain tips to help our children in the classroom to maintain their routine and consistency during your visit.
